James Wheeler

James was born in Scotland in 1944, He studied at the Glasgow School of Art and trained as a carpet designer before moving to England where he became Studio Design Manager at one of Yorkshire Largest carpet companies, here he carved a highly successful career to become one of the UKs leading carpet designers.

With colour and composition being so important in his professional designs, James allowed these to flow into his landscape paintings. Painting primarily in oils on cork, he straggles contenorary and timeless, inviting the viewer to personal interpretations of his painting.
